How Many Planets Are There?

Our solar system has 8 planets, all orbiting around the Sun: Mercury, Venus, Earth, Mars, Jupiter, Saturn, Uranus, and Neptune.

The first four — Mercury, Venus, Earth, and Mars — are small and rocky. The last four are much bigger and made mostly of gas.

Jupiter is the biggest planet of all — so big that more than 1,300 Earths could fit inside it!

Saturn is famous for its beautiful rings, which are actually made of countless chunks of ice and rock circling the planet.
